A helicopter just whanged into a high-rise apartment on the Upper West Side. Fire and debris has ensued. This is Very Bad and I hope that the casualties & damage prove to be minimal.

CNN's going on about being one day shy of the sixth anniversary of the Cole bombing. Whee.

No one's sure if it was a helicopter or a fixed-wing plane, but whatever it was, it was flying visual and not in tower contact.
