serinde: (MY CURSE IZ PASTEDE ON YAY!)

1) Excellent party Saturday night which we attended, and a lovely time was had by all, until the whole getting home bit. I thought I was being clever in declaring we would public transit to it, because, y'know, driving to Brooklyn at that time? and the parking? no. This worked well enough on the way there, in spite of the 2 being obnoxiously local, but on the way home, chaos struck. First, we had 2.5 minutes to make the train, which is enough--even when my feet are battered and bruised in heels--but we somehow lost [livejournal.com profile] audiovile and [livejournal.com profile] naudia crossing the LIRR concourse. And neither of them happened to have their cellphones, because why should they need 'em since we would be travelling en masse? And then NJ Transit managed to break shit, so all trains out of Penn were cancelled. After much sitting around waiting for news, I led [livejournal.com profile] sweh and [livejournal.com profile] elibalin up to Port Authority, where we caught the bus to Brian's, and he kindly drove us home. Three hours of pure distilled agitas, yay!

2) My computer is dead. Again. By which I mean, it powers up (I should hope so since it is a BRAND NEW POWER SUPPLY ahem) but, well, first it was freezing up while I was doing things. Then it started freezing during BIOS checks etc. Now we don't even get that far. Steve noticed the secondary fan on the motherboard didn't seem to be running, so step #1 is to swap that out. But, possibly the whole bloody thing is fried. If that is so, I will be desperately unpleased.

3) I can't carry my usual shoulder bag, because the doctor scolded me for doing it with injury and stuff. Which means I'm missing half the stuff I'm accustomed to having with me. Like BOOKS. And my notebook. Etc.

4) I just realized I forgot to bring in the weights [livejournal.com profile] sweh lent me so I can do the exercises said doctor gave me at work. #*%#&@&$@*%#*!. (I meant to start doing them in the morning, but they take an awful darn long time and I have to sit with a cold pack for 20 minutes afterwards, a thing I can more usefully achieve at my desk.)

5) Boys are dumb; and who's the more foolish, the fool or the fool who follows him?

6) I've been really craptacular about my diet, which I. cannot. do. as long as I'm grounded. This weekend's horrible temptation was [livejournal.com profile] naudia's creation of nuts & sunflower seeds tossed in garlic oil and sea salt. I could've eaten the whole bowl of them. I nearly did.

7) Steve's b-day present continues to elude me. My idea was PERFECT but the ship has foundered on the rocks of what is available and his own particular habits. Yes, this is cryptic, I don't want to spoil it in case this week turns out to be the third time ever he actually reads LJ.

Ah, Poor baby!

1) Yes, I had bad subway juju coming home too. The 3&4 were apparently not running from Fulton St either -- or at least the stairway to them from the 2 was closed off. So I waited then got on the 1st train coming by, which was an A then had to walk from 8th through the long twisty tunnels to the shuttle -- which had just stopped running for the evening -- then walk to GCS just in time to miss the 12:20 by about 2.5 min. while cursing that I would have made the 12:10 express if I'd stayed on the 2 w/ you folks and walked from Bway. Instead, I got home slightly after 2AM. And we left the party when? Would have (theoretically) been way faster to drive, but required way more sobriety. Ah well. I'd brought a good book, so all is well. (yes, Sweh, the cover is creased, but I've finished it.)

3) I suppose you can't carry a backback either? How about one w/ wheels?

5) (sigh)

hope today is better for all!

1) Yeah, Stephen was trying to tell you that when you were getting off--the 4 wasn't running below Brooklyn Bridge, which is after Fulton. Too much ruckus in the car, I guess. :(

3) The problem with the backpack is how I have to move my arms to get it ON. Gah. (Also, the ones with wheels are a pet peeve of mine, and I want to utterly destroy every one in a six block radius of Penn Station. So it would be very ethically wrong of me to take that way out.)

Duh. I heard him, but I didn't parse that he was talking about a subway stop named Brooklyn Bridge... And that doesn't explain where the 5 train was. MTA likes to blah blah about how people should take them instead of drinking and driving, but the service is all sucky on a Sat. nt. and you'd have to be sober to figure out their special late nt sucky schedule. I almost never take the subway to Brooklyn.

But it was a lovely party and all's well that ends well.

2) I suppose this could be taken as a sign that you need a new toy. I've been particularly happy with the spiffy newish Core2 beast, fastest/best/most-stable desktop box I've ever owned.

(There. I've jinxed it. Oh well.)

I, er, haven't the dosh in my personal coffers for same; and certainly not with Xmas coming up. I could probably submit the expense to the joint funds, and get approval even, but I am having an attack of fool's pride.
