Doing Stuff #6: Comics Exhibits at the Jewish Museum

[Note that this is on a Saturday, not the usual Sunday. Because the museum is free on Saturday.]

The next Doing Stuff will be on Saturday, Jan. 20th.

The Jewish Museum has two exhibits that are about to end, both of which I want to see. The first is Masters of American Comics (it's one part; the other is at the Newark Museum, but I'm not sure I'll make it there), and the second is Superheroes: Good and Evil in American Comics. After that, I'm thinking lunch at the Hungarian place I went to a couple times with tactisle when he lived in Yorkville, if I can figure out where it is AND it's still there. If not, then maybe Jackson Hole. Open to negotiation.

The museum's on the Upper East Side and the galleries open at 11. I anticipate being on the 10:17 bus, which will put me there at about 11:30, M4 willing. As noted above, admission is free on Saturdays.

Re: Hungarian place--If you are thinking of Mocca, they are gone. Very sad. They are semi-reincarnated in a place called Joe's, jsut down the street, but not really. Joe's is Hungarian in the same way that a greek diner is Greek. AFAIK, The Red Tulip is still there.

Ah! Ah! Ah! Mocca's exact menu was transferred to "Frankie's" or something down the street. The exact food - I got the chicken something-or-other and it tasted the same. That was about 1 year ago of course, so perhaps a change has happened, but in my opinion it's worth a try.

To be fair, it's not precisely the same (no bread with the awesome but unidentifiable orange colored spread, not pickles or anything) but still worth a try. Or there are a zillion other nice places on UES. I like Quattro Gatti. Italian.

Oh, and I figure I'll be there! It's about 3 blocks away from my residence and I am a comic book geek so I really have no excuse. :)
