Here we are in San Francisco, after a raucous yesterday that started with almost missing the plane. See, I'd told everyone ELSE to reset their clocks, but forgot to do MINE... So woke up an hour late, saw my cellphone, plotzed. Fortunately I'd done 99% of my packing the night before, but I did end up forgetting a few things. Meh. Got to the airport whereupon we discovered it more crowded than Thanksgiving or Christmas. And, since we were checking luggage, there was no escape. Finally checked in, finally made it thru security, ran down the terminal--of course the gate was in the long one--and then Beth went "Oh shit!" "?" "I left a bag at security!!" So I took her stuff and legged it to the gate while she sprinted back to the checkpoint. Hail TSA, they neither had noticed nor cared about the unattended luggage. We made the plane by >< that much and were off.

I always know how much nicer the weather is here, particularly in the Mission (where we are being kindly hosted by missionista and dr_memory), but it's so much different to be here and feel the warmth and smell the flowers in the air. Paradise, oh yes. We got there sometime near 2pm yesterday, rested & refreshed ourselves, and then went for a walk and a shop through the Mission. Beth has bought the entire contents of three thrift stores and has furnished her summer wardrobe. I found bupkis. But we had a dandy time.

Today, we are going to the People's Republic of Berkeley, which I've never seen, for lunch with missionista and then...we're not sure what. Maybe wander there, maybe come back & ride cable cars; we'll see how it goes. We seem to be signed up for a Senegalese dinner tonight. Further deponent knoweth not.

My flight back is at 1:mumble pm Wednesday.

(It seems the Senegalese foo has been moved to tomorrow, because the restaurant isn't actually open on Mondays. Cough. Afterwards we intend to go to the Starlight Lounge. I'm not sure what's happening tonight.)
