This is why I need more fabric
Apr. 2nd, 2007 09:24 pm--Well, reason #0 is that when I first dipped my toe into sewing, I scampered around buying every shiny!bright! silk I could, with utter disregard to whether it's at all appropriate to period. Which most of it is not. (Someday I shall have a stunning array of fancy street clothes, however.) So I need to increase my stock of wool and linen, which I've been steadily working on.
However, after finally settling down to start curtains for
dariodevil (another step in the This Is Your Home, Not A Damn Flophouse project), I realized I have little in the way of random cheap heavy cotton & cotton/poly: useful for linings, interfacings, and suchlike. I have some smaller scraps of a yard or two, but only one length suitable for backing a 60" x 65" curtain. Whoopsie.
As an experiment, I'm going to try and fingerloop actual cords, maybe 1/8" each (as opposed to floss, the usual medium for fingerlooping), to form the tieback. I think it will work, and I think it will look nifty. If it does I may make some for
sweh on the off chance he ever wants to open his curtains. this is me giggling & fleeing.
