I was so very, very right to drop Meltzer's "Justice League of America" after two issues. I mean, I already knew that, because it's long been clear he has no clue about the characters he's writing, the universe he's writing in, or indeed the first thing about putting together a superhero comic; but we are now officially Done.

I was going to say that it "Needs a chimp," but after not much reflection, suppose that it probably will get one (http://members.shaw.ca/gorillagallery/myweb2/gleek.htm).

Ha ha! This is GREAT! I don't buy this series at all, but now because you are dropping it I am going to buy TWO copies!

Among its other virtues, it makes Avengers look better by comparison!

Hey.. I just realized something. Comic books... ARE FOR CHILDREN! Why didn't I realize this before? I've wasted my life, apparently. Not to mention roughly... mm... $20,000 and 2,300 hours of my time that I'll never get back. Shoot... seems like a lot when you actually write it down like that, huh?

Yeah? Try reading any three pages of Meltzer's stuff. That is not aimed at the kids market. He has pretenses of being DARK! and REALISTIC~! In other words, Adult Themes.

No. He's trying to hook in fortysomethings with nostalgic memories of Super Friends. You show any of that shit to a ten-year-old nowadays and he'll screw up his little face and say "That's gaaaaaaay!" and go back to his PSP.

If Warren Ellis couldn't make the JLA interesting...

It peaked early in the Superman-Lois dialogue. After that... dullsville, baby. Especially for an Ellis fan like me, who's seen many of those ideas done better elsewhere. I'm not saying he phoned it in... OK, that is what i'm saying.

I'm torn..cuz a hall of justice like building and the LoD headquarters in JLU were awesome beyond words.

This, however....

Maybe it's because McDuffie & Timm > Meltzer
