Met M & K and sundry others for lunch at Aquavit (requires Flash). In addition to haute cuisine a la Sweden, they make their own flavor-infused aquavits, which we had a round of before lunch: raspberry-lime-ginger (mine), grapefruit-lemongrass, orange blossom-lychee, pineapple-basil, and pear-vanilla-black pepper (which latter was, I think, the winner, though others may disagree).

My lunch: herring sampler (OMFG good), salsify noodles in saffron-coconut broth (funky, but nice), and mint-chocolate mousse with blood orange sauce (lovely). We freely traded bites around the table, and nothing I tasted was less than really good; the seared scallops were particularly stand-out, as was the venison and dumplings, but my hands-down favorite was the Beef Rydborg.

Would eat there again and again, if I was made of money.

Maybe they'll be on the list for restaurant week?

I'm glad you didn't overindulge like I did. When eating with M&K I go totally overboard and regret it the next day...

I can't imagine mint-chocolate with orange flavor, but I bet it was awesome.

I'm feeling pretty overindulged myself....

Well, thanks you all for coming out at one time or another. Nick is heading off tommorrow, and in the last week we went to:
Craft (with Sedai), Le Bernadin, Per Se, Artisinal, Veritas, Chili+Chocolate, The Islands, Saul, Aquavit. We had a lot of fun and went out with a great cross section of our friends, but...brown rice for the next month!

Wow! Sounds absolutely awesome -- both the friends and the food.

Oh, and, despite my belly-aching from this last trip, I'm always up for more when you get off that brown rice diet. :)

Sounds delicious. To pick a nit, it's "Beef Rydberg", pretty traditional Swedish dish that one.
