In which we learn that 2 aspirin drop your temperature by about a degree after an hour.

I know you're supposed to let the fever rage if it isn't dangerously high, for to burn out the evil invaders, but I was feeling awfully damn miserable. And I'm less so now, and I think I shall sleep.

Did you get a flu shot this year? Cuz with the fever and all, it sounds like you have influenza. It might be too late, but try calling the doctor; Tamiflu might help.
Working around all those germy college students might perk up your immunity in the long run though, so look at it that way.

I didn't get a flu shot, no. I don't feel bad enough for me to think it's flu, really--I mean, other than the cough, all I have is the fever and its side effects.

If you had a runny nose, it'd most likely be a cold. The fact that all you have is fever and cough pretty much clinches it as the flu. Flu season's been pretty bad in Ohio this year; if the number of positive flu tests is any indication.
Hope you feel better, and if you start having a productive cough, you need to get to a doctor.

Brian managed to get pneumonia this winter; of course he waited until he was in Chicago for Mercedes training before he decided to see a doctor. Dat's mah brudder, actin' dopey.

After flu, a productive cough could signal secondary pneumonia.
