Now my other knee is playing up. Lots. In the "hurts to go up stairs" way.

I find often that is the result of favoring the originally painful knee.

The good news is that you don't have what I had. That hurt more going downstairs than up. Did vitamin I help?

Hi Victoria! This is Arielle, Simon's wife. I am friending you, if that's okay, and hope that you will do the same!

You might want to look into your Vitamin D level. There is suddenly all sorts of stuff in the literature about how low levels of Vitamin D contribute to joint pain (especially knees), arthritis, cancer and other ailments. Oddly enough, those of use living at northern latitudes just don't seem to get enough sun to make the necessary D...and most adults don't drink enough fortified milk, so supplements are your friend.

I'm having knee trouble as well; when going up stairs I have figured out how to make it not hurt, but going down is painful unless I use the handrail.

If you have a good orthopedic surgeon to recommend, I'm all ears. The one my PC recommended just told me to keep taking naproxyn.

That I keep nervously moving my left leg up and down when sitting down is probably not helping.
