Loaf, half of.
Jan. 21st, 2003 01:49 pmThere was aikido, and I was happy...except that my belly is broken. Some muscle down there is fine until I try to move it, at which point there's a claw of fire slicing diagonally up my gut on the right side. I noticed it during Arisia, mostly when trying to get out of bed, but it's _very_ obvious during aikido; one of the pre-class stretches is, basically, bending over backwards, and I couldn't get more than a few degrees back without screaming agony. It's also one of the muscles which does things when rolling, which sort of CRIMPS MY STYLE MORE THAN A BIT ahem.
My instructor was very understanding and we worked on things which didn't activate that muscle, but I feel like the world's biggest wuss. It's easy enough for the rational faculties to say "you are doing lots of intense exercise on practically-unused muscles, pushing it is just going to make things worse", but they tend to get drowned out by testosterone and the fear of loss of face.
The rest of me got a good workout, though. I think I'll be hobbling tomorrow again. (Eris chortles: the dojo was closed yesterday for the holiday anyways.)
