Today's lesson is that doing a search for reviews of Bluetooth headsets / handsfree kits has a worse S:N ratio than, I don't know, "Obama birth certificate".

So, lazyweb: I took your advice regarding the headphones to get, and am deliriously in love with my MC3s. What say you for going cordless? Is the Ety-BLU2 equally magic?

I've been using a Plantronics Pulsar 590A for quite a long while now with several phones, including an iPhone. It may not be quite what you're after for this though: it's a stereo headset, suitable for music as well as calls -- though I primarily use it for calls these days -- and perhaps not what you want to be wearing while wandering around.

But in any case, you probably can't go too far wrong with Plantronics.

We've worked through 5 or 6 Bluetooth headsets over the years (the SOs mobile telco has lousy reception in our apartment, which necessitates placing the phone Just So), and the check-list now goes like this:
- in-ear is out of the question, over-the-ear is what we want (see the 3rd picture on http://www.tomsguide.com/us/skype-for-ppc,review-414-2.html)
- Logitech is vastly preferred, as these Just Work with really every random device we ever had (Sony-Ericsson, Siemens, Nokia, Motorola for phones, Dell, Lenovo, HP for laptops, also 2 or 3 random BT USB dongles)
- you get what you pay for - for 20 bucks you won't get something that'll last more than the warranty
