The sweetness of evil
Feb. 14th, 2003 02:27 pmI have succumbed. A new case of joy juice is here. But it's not on auto-delivery, and it's just to get us through the Long Dark Night of Covad, and I've only had half a bottle. Starting to twitch. Hyper-alert brain engaging. WEEEEEEE!
Had a good aikido class--I worked for the first time with someone who didn't have the Dark Pants of Instructorhood (actually, from a comment I overheard, I think maybe you get to wear those if you have a black belt). Much fun and some good pointers. I think this fellow (his name is Gavin) would probably be cool to hang out with, too.
The interesting, and somewhat vexatious, thing is that I had a heck of a time forcing myself to go to class today. Definite lizard brain happening, and I don't know why. Fortunately I have learned to recognize that voice and know to do the opposite, but sometimes it's hard to fight the inertia--even when I _know_ I'll really enjoy whatever it doesn't want me to do. It was a close one today. Is it just laziness, or what?
Lovely evening last night with my darling pet. Valentine cards everywhere. :) Came into the office to find flowers on my desk, too (I think that would be Brian's doing). In spite of ongoing turmoil at work and home, I'm feeling pretty happy in life right now.

I looked around for a book on Aikido so i could start to learn the names of things but someone who has been doing it for 10 years told me that they don't expect you to remember them for quite a while and I'm slowly picking them up (even if I have no idea how to spell them).

Date: 2003-02-14 12:35 pm (UTC)They don't seem to, particularly--we all line up in two or three lines, depending on how big the class is; there tends to be more at the front, but they're generally mixed in with the rest of us.
I can _spell_ the names, cos I took a year of Japanese in college, and what you hear is what you get...I just can't keep straight what maneuvers to attach them to. :)

Ski. Tenshin. Tenkahn. That's about as far as I get ;)
