Actually, it's just between tiredness and other stuff...

I enjoyed myself for the most part at class today, in spite of being partnered with the confused black belt from the other week (turns out his name is Kevin). I really think he must be from some vastly different tradition than this dojo, or something. But, so he did whatever moves in his own wacky way, and I did them as the sensei did 'em, and all was well. I have definitely got the knack of the basic forward roll when flung, but then it got sneaky; we did a throw which has you flipping ass-over-teakettle before you hit ground. I kept muffing that one, and my shoulder got a bit sore, which made me hesitant, which made it worse...sigh.

Tonight, out to dinner for Brian's birthday, and then the rest of them go to a comedy club and I go down shore for a sewing weekend. Naturally it's supposed to be cold and rainy tomorrow, though Sunday looks better.

Also, my pooky and I have determined to take a small vacation to Toronto later this month. Yay! We will be staying at the Royal York hotel, which I'm still wibbling about whether to drop the extra $$ for the "Gold" floor. It gives you lots of decadent stuff, though [livejournal.com profile] sweh points out we won't use most of it...still...waah...

From [livejournal.com profile] mangosteen:

1. What do you need?

Sleep. More time. Clones.

2. Do you still want that castle on 105th St.?

Hell yes, but someone else bought it, I heard.

3. If you told your pre-college self what you're doing now, what would she say?

"What's an Internet?"

4a. You can live anywhere in the US that isn't the NY metro area. Where would it be? Show your work.

San Francisco. The minute I stepped off the plane, I knew "this is a place I could live". It has everything I require in a city, and enough nature close around that I won't shrivel and die (see: Jersey City).

Specifically, the Mission District. It seems to be slightly warmer and sunnier than the rest of the city, but not so much more that it makes me crankily too hot. Also, there are oodles of cool things there, and decent transit from what I could tell.

(There might be other parts of the city I would be happy in, but I haven't seen enough to make a useful judgment.)

4b. Same question, but not the US, and not the UK.

I haven't BEEN anywhere else!

5. What non-noun gets you out of bed in the morning?

I don't know, but whatever it is, it's inexorable.

And now, a cup of tea.
