Yep, at today's class I was all Dippy the Wonder Bimbo. Couldn't get a damn thing straight until close to the end (the last maneuver clicked with me). I started working with Tony, but we were both having problems with the first move, so the sensei split us up and put us each with a black belt; so I ended up with Kevin. That's the second time it's happened that way; weird coincidence land. But, he was much more communicative than he had been the previous times we had been partnered, and he definitely wasn't confused at all, so that part wasn't a problem--only my fuzzy little head was. Bleh.

It was also incredibly muggy. Not too hot today, lower 70s perhaps, but so very humid that I was completely soaked in sweat afterwards (though I have worked harder before and not ended up so).

I need more words. I still am not clear on precisely which words refer to what, for the most part (I've got a handle on iriminage and kodegashi now, at least). Must find a glossary with pictures.

No game tonight. Diablo LAN party tonight, for values of "party" that equals three of us. Well, and I have to finish the pad-stitching for my gamurra lining. Weeeeee! (I meant to do it on the train, but forgot the strawberry. Sigh.)

The US Aikido Federation (http://www.usaikifed.com/) has the Eastern Region Test Requirements (http://www.usaikifed.com/testreq.htm) web page, which has the names of all the techniques you need for various tests and a glossary for the attack names, but I haven't found a decent glossary with pictures for all the movements and techniques, would be interested if you find one ...

Yep, that's hanging on the wall of the dojo. (Though I'm under the impression that there are different words for, e.g., a one-hand grab when you are standing in mirror-image hanmi vs. a one-hand grab when you each have the same foot forward...but the vocab flies so fast, I could be vastly wrong.)

I first read "gamurra lining" as "gamera lining". Interesting mental image.
