I nearly bailed on class today, on account of sore tailbone, sore welt on my back, and our old friend Mr. Lower Back Pain. But at the last minute I went anyways, and it was Good. Yay, endorphins.
I reach the conclusion that, in a real-world situation, should someone get ryotetori (that's them grabbing both of your wrists, from the front) on you, you had damn well be taking them by surprise or you are bobopoked, as they say in the land of my people. Of course, for a lot of grab techniques, you don't want them to actually get the grab, you sort of lead them; but some things require that they be attached to your arm. This requires testing in a non-classroom setting. See, this is why I need to get into bar fights! It's for Science!
Stupid sight of the day: Bed Bath & Beyond is selling, wait for it, S'mores kits. They come with a little burner thingy, skewers, and ceramic containers to hold your graham crackers &c. I can't conceive of a commercial product that utterly misses the point quite so dramatically.

probably due to the popularity of them @ cosi
Date: 2003-11-17 11:10 am (UTC)FWIW, we once (the operative word here) made them at home using bamboo skewers and a sterno can. Highly effective for at home use, and a hell of a lot cheaper than $65.00. Not the same as a campfire, though ....
