Look, Ma, new icon.

Slowly, slowly I subscribe to the various LJisms...so anyways, this here is my aikido icon. (It's the character for "ki", which is strength and energy and all that good stuff. What you're supposed to be using instead of your muscles.)
Today all the techniques were from a hinky back-hand attack, more or less like yokemenuchi except, as I say, it's a backhand; and you handle it in a very similar fashion. (I don't know if it's considered a thing of its own or not.) The fellow I was practicing with, whose name escapes me, gave me some very useful pointers on my formerly-crap sankyo, and Butch (the sensei) gave me similarly useful pointers on how to keep from being flung all over the place during iriminage. At the end, it was another "run around and do unto everyone else the last throw we learned"; whee! Combined with the fact that it was somewhat warm and sticky today, I was quite a red-faced pooky by the end of things. But that's okay.
