It seems that there is a reprinted omnibus edition of all three Master Li & Number Ten Ox books. And for extra bonus crunchy goodness, it's illustrated by Kaja Foglio.

And here I thought that Steve and I were the only people who'd ever read those (and I only knew about them through him).

I have no idea what you're talking about; though, I'd kinda like to find out.

It's a three-book series by Barry Hughart: Bridge of Birds, Story of the Stone, and Eight Skilled Gentlemen. They're fantasy/mystery/deadpan-humor tales "set in an ancient China that never was". I love them to bits. Check 'em out if you can find them locally. (It is nice, but not at all necessary, to read them in order.)

So, for the time being, I'll just say, Kaja Foglio?... Sounds like a bizarre combination of Japanese and Italian names.

She's an artist (well, duh) who has done a number of Magic: the Crack Addiction cards, and the wife of Phil Foglio, goofy comic artist extraordinaire. Never tell me you haven't heard of XXXenophile...

And don't worry, I won't tell you I've never heard of XXXenophile. I will, however, tell you that I'd never heard of it until you mentioned it. Looked it up, though. Comic book porn, eh? Sounds... interesting...

I'd like to take this opportunity to mention that my ex-husband is friends with Phil & Kaja, and once gave me an autographed XXXenophile collection (that is, one book of collected comics) as a gift. After we were divorced.
