Argh

Made a complete hash of the pleating on the green gamurra, but after the fourth time I'd picked out the running stitch and after the fifth time I'd re-pinned it, I couldn't see straight and just sewed it how it was.

Still got a total of about 5,362 eyelets to go. And I oughta make a waterbearer baldric for myself, too.

What am I forgetting?

I hate this part of trip preparation--the constant nagging knowledge that there's something important I should have done, or made a note of to do, and will fail to be done.

Very frustrating morning; my cellphone was out of charge, as it turned out, and I brought the wrong thread, and these spiraled with extreme tiredness to give me a meltdown. sweh sorted me out and got me back on track, and I feel vaguely competent again. I think I've got everything sorted here, which is good as I will leave in two hours to make a two-hour journey to get to a point eight miles from my house. Ah, New Jersey.

In the meanwhile, I am fighting the good fight. Somehow there started a discussion about spices on one of the D&D web boards, and that old stupid chestnut about "medieval people used spices to cover up the taste of rotting meat" reared its ugly head. So I've been re-educating my little heart out. Well, it's getting me into a Pennsic thought mode, anyways. Pedants 'R' Us! (In the same thread, I've also had cause to educate the masses on medieval undergarments and bathing practices. Basically, every misconception ever made is showing up. Whee.)

Politics! Whee!

No, SCA politics. Or well, not even; social dynamic politics that happen to be taking place in an SCA context. All of the players involved are, I should add, older than me. By at least five years. More like ten. And in some cases, twenty. Yet if you wrote it up, it'd look like a Sweet Valley High catfight.

The net result of this seems to be, at my last information, that we are upping stakes from where we have always camped from the beginning of time (which is a fabulous spot) and moving elsewhere. And that wherever we move to, Kasia et al. will be somewhere else, and likely not close by.

Now to begin my epic journey to get the G-D rental van.
