I got up earlier than I usually do when I stay at Brian's, because really I'm supposed to be in the office at 9 these days for managed server coverage...I mean, El Jefe hasn't actually said so, but judging from other signs he assumes it's already happening, so.

And then I waited 15 minutes at DeKalb for a train. No B or Q, which is pretty bizarroland for rush hour. Finally caught the R, which is local and plodding, and I ended up getting in at the same ole quarter past nine I usually achieve.

The sausage place does what they are pleased to call omelettes, but is really in fact eggs scrambled up with stuff. Tastes okay, though I find their breakfast sausage is awfully bland.

So, both Monday night and last night, after not doing anything but sitting on a moderately-hard chair for an hour previous, I got waves of severe pain up the pulled muscle. Whether this has to do with the extra exertion from going to class on Monday or not, I don't know. (Why only at night, for instance?)

I'm going fucking batshit not being able to go to class. I could go, and just do techniques I know are safe. I also know myself, and assign a high likelihood to the possibility that when actually there I'd feel driven to keep up with what everyone else is doing, and do things likely to hurt my leg. If it were just a question of pain, I would tell it to go stuff itself, but in the moments when I am not being machoer-than-thou I know damn well that this is the "you are fucking it up worse" flavor of pain.

There are several lessons here, one of which is about serene acceptance of things you can't change, and another of which has to do with knowing your limits and not worrying what other people think. I've almost always flunked #2, have had reasonable luck with #1, but never with anything I wanted really badly.

Can I just sleep until I'm healed? Please?

To distract myself, therefore, a meme. )
