The new, light, karate-style gi top is a vast summertime improvement. Unfortunately the pants that came with it have an elastic waistband, which I find terribly annoying when it gets all sweaty, so they are rather useless to me; I'm still using my old pair with the patch in 'em. Half a loaf, etc.

My leg is, in fact, improving (if at a glacial pace). Still not back to normal, but I can stretch further than I could last week. As it happened, we weren't doing anything today that stressed it anyways. Therefore, since the universe must have balance, I have picked up a new ouch (during the weekend, strictly speaking) which seems to be some kind of nerve pain in my upper arm. It crops up during kotegashi and when I'm putting a shirt on. Go figure.

According to FitDay, I just burned more calories in aikido than I've eaten all day so far. This begins to beg the question of why I haven't lost any weight in the past week, but I shall be patient and give it a month before judging.

Amazingly, our first DG mission ended satisfactorily. The kid was involved, though unconsciously (he had a Mythos artifact, specifically a medallion he never took off, that was linked to a byakhee; so when he dreamed about people who'd hurt him, the byakhee would go out and hunt them down). We acquired the artifact, un-wrecked the kid's life, killed the byakhee[1], and made a good coverup that no one will ever manage to untangle. Go Us. Of course, then there was Steve's comment to me: "Wow, a mission with a happy ending. I'll have to do something about that." Let the bloodshed commence.

[1] That is to say, Agent Michael killed the byakhee by himself, since he happened to be the only one around when it showed up. And he survived. All together now: "Nick is a far luckier bastard than he has any right to be." [livejournal.com profile] arkham1010, your Navy SEAL is going to have to get up pretty damn early in the morning if he wants to catch up on bragging rights, here.

Dilemma.

[livejournal.com profile] mir_nyc just reminded me of something [livejournal.com profile] arkham1010 and I have discussed in the past: Skirmish's 24-hour-long D-Day simulation paintball scenario. On the one hand: soooo cooooool! On the other hand, this is the kind of event that seems quite likely to draw the Fighting Uruk-Hai, which is negative amounts of fun. Wibble.
