Back in days of yore, when I was in high school, and would watch VH1, I swear to $DEITY they bleeped the word “toke”. Repeatedly. Censorship has never been quite the same for me since.

Ooh! Oooh!! My ABSOLUTE FAVORITE:

The shitty local stations will play "Cocaine" by Eric Clapton perfectly happily, without any kind of alteration. But! when they would play Buckcherry's "Lit Up", which they did a lot since it was a Big Hit for about fifteen minutes, they'd INEVITABLY bleep the chorus "I love the cocaine, I love the cocaine".

Then there's the Tom Petty song where "joint" was censored via random garbling. "So let's get...to the point...let's smoke...another bleurgbe...."
