On the entire Internet I cannot find a ski-mask pattern--that is, not for the kind that every kid I knew had growing up, where it's got two separate eyeholes, and the stuff is thin enough that you can roll it up to be a hat when you don't want to look like a dork it's not as cold.

I thought a balaclava specifically had a large single gap exposing much more of the face.

Hah. Already found the Metafilter link to a whole page of those. I am so not buying a 1960s McCall just so I can create the horror, either.

Heh. Weird though, how hard it is to find a pattern for the classic 3-hole ski mask.

If it was this hard to find any ski masks at all, I'd blame the Patriot Act or some crap. But nooo, you can find the one-hole style everywhere. Sheesh.

I think it's because The Current Generation has horrible memories of being forced to wear them as kids and doesn't want to spread the suffering. The one-hole style has a much lower dork quotient.
